Eating disorders can wreak havoc on the growing bodies of teenagers and cause numerous problems for adults, as well. Dental health is no exception; a person who suffers from an eating disorder like anorexia nervosa or bulimia will soon see changes in his or her mouth and teeth.
While the Affordable Care Act—commonly known as “ObamaCare”—does include provisions for dental insurance for children, at this time dental coverage for adults isn’t included. If your employer doesn’t offer dental or you can’t afford the premiums, you may be facing a situation without dental care coverage for your family. The real question is, can you afford to forgo dental coverage?
Tooth loss can occur from a number of dental problems, most commonly tooth decay, gum disease or injury. With only one or two missing teeth, implants are probably a better solution. However, if a patient is missing several teeth, it may be time to look into dentures as an answer.
