The babies of Livonia are truly the cutest babies in the world! At Livonia Family Dental, we see patients of all ages, even the littlest of children – your baby.  The earlier you bring your child to the dentist, the easier s/he will become acclimated to dental care and develop strong dental habits.  We understand that the teething transition is a difficult period for both child and parent.  Our gentle dentists and hygienists can help you ease your baby’s transition to a cute, toothy grin!

Your baby’s teeth are already present at birth.  At around six months, your baby will show the first signs of teething as the front teeth begin to break through the gums. By age three, your child will have twenty tiny baby teeth.

There are several ways that you can help your baby survive the teething period.  First, be sure to feed your child a healthy diet with low to no sugar.  This will ensure that the baby teeth do not suffer from tooth decay prematurely. Second, as your baby begins to teethe, now is the time to begin weaning your child from its bottle. You can help your baby’s teeth by avoiding a bottle during bedtime or naptime; allowing liquid to sit in your baby’s mouth is another route to premature tooth decay. Third, consider a teething ring so your baby will have something to chew on. This will relieve some of the discomfort that your baby might have during the teething period.

At Livonia Family Dental, we want your visit to our family dental office to be stress-free, educational, and rewarding. We welcome patients of all ages, and we love our littlest ones the most! Schedule your baby for his/her first dental appointment today.
