In Composite Fillings, Kids and Teens, Restorative Procedures

While fillings made of silver amalgam may be a bit cheaper than those of composite filling material, we neither use nor recommend that method. Why? Because composite fillings are clearly so much better in nearly every way!

There are still studies being done on the effects of silver amalgam and we do not yet have all of the information on this material. We do know that mercury is often present in silver amalgam filling material and this element can have serious adverse effects on the brain and kidneys. Further, mercury may cause developmental disorders in young children.

Here at your favorite Livonia family dentist, we want what’s best for your family. That’s why we use only composite fillings. Not only will your teeth maintain a uniform white appearance, you’ll also have less exposure to harmful chemicals. Would you like to learn more about composite fillings?
